21st Century Learning Design

The present study investigated the effect of 21st century learning design on the cognitive development of ECE children. One hypothesis postulated and tested in the study as follows; that there is a significant relationship between use of 21st century learning design curriculum and the child’s cognitive development. The researchers adopted quantitative method of research. A total number of 30 ECE students selected as a sample for the study. They selected through convenient sampling techniques (agree/disagree). A 20-items checklist on the usage of 21st century learning design in teaching and learning employed to evaluate effect on the child’s cognitive development. It scored on agree/disagree format. The checklist filled by teacher on observing each child’s performance in the 21st century learning design learning. The data aanalyzed with the help of correlation technique. The study shown that the children, who are given more opportunities to learn through 21st century learning design revealed effects on cognitive development and there is a good impact of 21st century learning design on the cognitive development of early year’s education. The role of teacher in implementing and integrating 21st century learning design with in early childhood education had also affected on children’s learning. The study recommends that 21st century learning design should integrate with curriculum and there should be 21st century learning design based material in each school to enhance children’s cognitive development.
